About Me

I am a prospective sophomore majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst! I'm also completing a double minor in science/connecticut/fairfield">Computer Science and Business. I was recognized by Phi Kappa Phi for outstanding academic achievement and being in the top 10% for sophomores by GPA. I've been on the Dean's List this past year and I'm also a currently a member of the Honors College.

Experience

Through the National Honors Society during my senior year, I tutored various students in mathematics as well as science. I also served as a Math Mentor where I tutored students biweekly on various geometry concepts and helped them with problem solving. I also served as a Chemistry Tutor through my AP Chemistry class my junior year of high school. This past year, I worked as a private tutor to help a student review concepts from calculus 1 and 2 in preparation for taking calculus 3.

Approach

As a student, I understand that not every topic will stick the first time that it is taught. When I tutor, I like to give students the chance to gain exposure to the concept and get as much practice with the topic as possible. I try to explain things in multiple ways so that I can help students with different types of learning to grasp the concepts. I also encourage students to do their best and I am understanding if a student becomes frustrated. I want to do my best to help the students be proud and confident in their abilities.
