About Me
I am a professional writer/editor and educator with experience working with kids and adults of all ages. I earned my BA in English from Old Dominion University and went on to pursue my MFA in Creative Writing at George Mason University, where I worked as a tutor and instructor.
Experience
I have taught and tutored writing and literature at the college and high school levels and have trained extensively in writing and pedagogy. As an experienced tutor, I have worked with a diverse clientele, including ESL/ELL students and students with disabilities, K-12 students of all ages, and undergraduate as well as graduate level university students.
Approach
My teaching style is largely Socratic, meaning that I ask specific, guiding questions aimed to give students agency over their own learning. I know that every student brings something different to our sessions, and I make sure to take the time to learn what works best for each of them and adapt my methods as necessary. My ultimate goal is to foster an environment that makes my students feel safe, supported, challenged, and inspired.
