Fun Facts

I enjoy Sherlock Holmes novels, writing poetry, and reading comic books. I am an athlete, who can speak some Spanish and some Mandarin, and one of my favorite foods to eat is Pancit Bihon(which is a Filipino cuisine). I am well traveled having visited over 5 countries and having visited 4 continents.

About Me

I graduated from the University of South Florida in 2013, and have taught English/ESL and helped tutor other subjects for over 5 years. I have coached basketball, flag football, and taught Physical Education and Science, I have worked around the youth as a Referee. I enjoy working with student's of various ages from age 5 to adults. I have trained teachers and coaches for team building and teacher training. I have multiple ESL teaching certifications (TESOL and TEFL) with over 120 hours of training.

I lead D&I activities currently at my main job within Insurance Customer Service. My passion is to help plant the seed of knowledge within students and after it has been planted, help to nourish that seed as much as possible while observing it grow. One of my goals is to create curricula crafted towards the student's learning styles and interest.

Experience

As a member of the National Junior Honor Society, I had the opportunity to tutor students at the LYP (Lajes Youth Program) in Lajes Fields, Azores, Portugal. I worked with YEA (Youth Excellence and Achievement) which was an after school program that allowed college students to help tutor students and assist with homework. I have worked as a home-school teacher with Connexus Academy, and helped prepare curricula for schools in the People's Republic of China Guangdong, Province.

Approach

My philosophy of teaching is that, "Children are the key's to the future, in order for us to secure a future we must help in guiding student's to the door. Once at the door student's are able to use these keys and open us to world's beyond." My approach is that of a coach, as someone who was great at scholastics, I did have trouble focusing and was a bit of a class-clown, my goal for students is to allow them room to growth while providing timely correction, constructive criticism, & good vibes.
