Outside of tutoring, I love hiking, basketball (I’m 6’6”), and making latte art. I’m also a big fan of chess and data puzzles. I enjoy helping students not just learn math—but see it as an empowering tool to understand the world.

About Me

Hi! I’m Jerry, a PhD student in Statistics at UConn with a Master’s from NC State and a Bachelor’s in Mathematical Economics from the University of Kentucky. I love turning complex math into clear, meaningful lessons that build real understanding. My goal is to help every student gain confidence and enjoy learning math.

Experience

I’ve taught students from middle school to college in Algebra, Calculus, and Statistics. At Denver Public Schools, I helped students pass Math 1 through personalized support. I also worked as a Graduate TA at NC State, a Data Analyst intern, and a Senior Math Reviewer at Outlier, improving AI-generated math solutions for accuracy and clarity.

Approach

I focus on clarity, confidence, and connection—breaking down tough problems into simple steps. My sessions combine practice with real-world examples, so students understand the “why,” not just the “how.” I encourage curiosity and guide students to think critically and solve problems independently.
