About Me
I am a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Classics. I was born and raised in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area. Throughout university and after, I've spent my time tutoring, mentoring, and teaching students of all ages. I love sharing my excitement and knowledge of science with students and seeing that same enthusiasm and curiosity reflected in them. In my free time I enjoy long-distance running as I get to explore my own city and any new places while traveling.
Experience
While in university, I volunteered as a teaching assistant at MERIT in Baltimore, which is a program for high achieving high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds interested in pursuing careers in health. I have also worked full-time as a middle school science teacher at St. Pius X Regional School in my hometown of Bowie, Maryland. In this role I taught students virtually for the first semester and in a hybrid setting for the second semester. I taught Earth, Life, and Physical sciences.
Approach
In my experience I've found that letting my enthusiasm for science and math shine through in the classroom allows space for students to also find and showcase their interest in the subject. I an patient and encouraging and willing to meet students where they're at while pushing them to achieve their best work.
