Fun Facts

Besides teaching, music has always been a passion of mine since I can remember. I started classical piano lessons at age 5 and continued throughout high school. I play the bass guitar also, which my latest musical hobby. I have a home library of my favorite authors and love using the books I loved growing up to help support a young mind sprout into a literacy enthusiast and hopefully an avid-life-long learner. About Me

I love love love to teach! I am a licensed and certified teacher with my professional certification in Elementary Education grades K-6. I have taught grades 1-5 in various classroom settings in Palm Beach County School District over the course of almost ten years.
Reading is my favorite subject to teach! I believe that I can support even the most reluctant readers to gain confidence again and even enjoy reading with the right, personalized approach. I differentiate my lessons with each student's learning style, strengths, interests, and pinpoint areas in which need more focus and instructional support. I'm all about having a growth mindset and a positive attitude when it comes to supporting students in their learning goals and making learning a FUN experience.

Experience

I have tutored students privately, on campus, virtually, and in homeschool settings over the past 15 years. With 12 years experience as a classroom teacher in a public school district, I have worked in general education populations, both departmentalized and self-contained, as well as in education/tennessee/memphis">special education, teaching and supporting students with varying exceptionalities. I have had the opportunity to support many students with not only academics, but with behavioral modification goals as well.

Approach

I struggled in certain subjects in school and understand that not all students learn the same way! Fortunately, I had some fantastic teachers that encouraged me and showed that learning CAN BE and IS FUN! All kids are unique, so I find what his or her hobbies are and what interests them, in and outside of school. Building a good rapport from day one supports a positive start, increases student motivation and brings confidence to a student, not only their academics, but as an overall individual.
