Fun Facts
I have been drawing casually since 2017, and have taken several college-level art classes. I've also spent some time studying Japanese. I am the oldest of five children and we were all homeschooled growing up. I am a big cat person and I have my cat living with me on campus.
About Me
For my last two years of high school, I was a dual enrollment student taking full-time college courses at my local community college. I graduated high school with my Associate in Liberal Arts in 2020. I am a junior at Drexel University doing my pre-student teaching at Philadelphia Performing Arts: A String Theory Charter School. After I graduate college I intend to teach high school English at a Philly school. I also have an interest in teaching EFL abroad or ESL in the States.
Experience
During high school, I worked as an after-school tutor at my local library. Here I had several students whom I regularly assisted in various subjects. Last academic year, I worked part-time as an in-school tutor at Samuel Powell Elementary School. Here I worked with 2nd and 3rd graders in English classrooms.
Approach
Although I generally enjoyed English (reading comprehension and writing) as a student, I found that I became more invested in learning when I was able to read or write about things that engaged me. This is why I will try to relate the material to a given student's interests or life. I also intend to work with each student's teachers and parents to provide the best-individualized support.
