Fun Facts
My family is from Ecuador, but I grew up in Miami, Florida. My favorite hobbies include soccer, cooking, and playing video games. I also enjoy reading and practicing the trumpet in my free time.
About Me
I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2020 with a Public Policy and Global Health degree. Following graduation, I joined Teach for America and taught Spanish in Charlotte. I hope to return to UNC in a couple of years to obtain my Master's in Public Health.
Experience
Spanish was my first language, but I learned English early. I have two years of formal instructional experience teaching high school Spanish. I have also worked as a Spanish interpreter and translator for seven years. In college, I tutored my classmates every week.
Approach
As an ESL (English as a second language) student in grade school, I understand how frustrating the language learning process can sometimes be. While there are instructional best practices, every student has their own unique set of needs. A struggling student may thrive once they switch to a different learning strategy. Therefore, the key to language acquisition lies in consistency, patience, and adapting to what works best for each student.
