I can often be found with my sketch pad and pencils, drawing around the city. This is one of my favorite ways to stay present and observe my surroundings. In my free time, I am teaching myself slide guitar and learning how to be a bicycle commuter.
About Me
I am an artist living in New Orleans. I have a bachelor's degree in English and an extensive background in creative and academic writing.
Experience
I have worked in a preschool and as a nanny for young children. I helped these children with their basic reading and writing skills. I also worked at a YMCA summer camp where the goal was to bridge the summer learning gap.
Approach
Growing up, I had undiagnosed attention deficit issues. I did very well in school, but only because I learned to teach myself the material and move at my own pace. My approach to tutoring is to help each child move at their own pace. I find that once frustration sets in, it’s nearly impossible to learn. I try to simply meet students where they are and build from there. I prefer to teach reading/writing and basic math. These are subjects that children are convinced they’re either good or bad at e
