I love health and fitness and I try to incorporate movement of some sort into every day. I also enjoy reading and if I can't choose between two books I will read them both at the same time!

About Me

I have experience as a teacher and a tutor. I have also worked in account management, where I used my reading, writing and mathematics skills on a daily basis. I have two boys who are in college, a husband and a very large, fluffy dog.

Experience

I am an experienced classroom teacher and have also worked in business. Most recently I worked as a long term substitute teacher in grades K-5. I am familiar with the Connecticut CORE curriculum and I have experience creating lesson plans based upon that curriculum across all subjects. I have recently worked as a tutor and worked with students both individually and in small groups.

Approach

I was always a good student in Language Arts but I struggled with math. I ended up with a teacher in High School who took the time to work with me and to encourage me. I use those same strategies when teaching any subject. I use a lot of positive encouragement and I help students set small, achievable goals to keep them motivated. I also use games and puzzles to keep learning fun and exciting.
