manhattan">Tutoring is an activity that I've been doing in some capacity for years. During high school, I was a volunteer peer manhattan">tutor for three years. I tutored my classmates in any subject in which they needed help, ranging from English to math to Spanish to science to history. Additionally, I have been a baby-sitter for the past five years, baby-sitting children who are now 8, 10, and 12 years old. I frequently did the children's homework with them. As an oldest child, I have helped my younger siblings often with their schoolwork. My brother is in 6th grade and my sister is a junior in high school, so I have helped her both with homework and with preparing for AP tests, the ACT, the SAT, and now the college application process.
For me, the most important aspects of manhattan">tutoring are patience, creativity, and energy. In school, teachers often don't have time to give individual attention to each student or move at too fast a pace for full comprehension. My goal is to ensure total comprehension, even if I have to go over the same material multiple times and in five different ways. I will always be calm, patient, and understanding, respecting each student as a person and as a learner. I believe that each student is unique and different, so rather than having one manhattan">tutoring style, I always try to adjust my manhattan">tutoring approach based on the individual student. Everyone learns in different ways, ranging from visual to auditory to kinesthetic. Some students learn best by playing games, others by doing practice exercises, others through discussion
