Fun Facts
I love swimming! I also like word puzzles and all kinds of board and trivia games. I was even on call to appear on JEOPARDY!, but never called in allotted time of eighteen months.
About Me
I am a called pastor on disability, but permitted to work a remote and steady part-time job without a loss in benefits, although my monthly stipend of around $700 a month will reduce to $300 per month. I love to read and write poetry and prose, including books of all kinds. I was born to create, in Kansas City, MO, where my school gave me worksheets to do, and an IQ test, recommending immediate placement from kindergarten to the third grade . My folks declined. Being able to read and write and draw, I lived in my own little dream world, said my folks, after I grew up. They at that time said the IQ test put me at 190. I was bored in school, and beat up a lot, but
really liked high school, especially learning Latin and classical Greek. I graduated with 45 dual college credits and finished college a year early. My junior year, when I turned 19, the Mass Communication Chair offered me a job at the PBS station we were launching, KMOS-TV, as the producer of a weekly magazine show, but I lacked the confidence to accept. My third year was my senior year, when I changed my major to English. Three of my professors approached me one day , saying I was too smart for that school, and vowing to do their level best to get me into an Ivy League school for my post-graduate work. They wanted to have coffee with my folks and me after the graduation ceremony, but my folks refused to go to both that coffee and my graduation. Instead, my parents wanted me to get a job right away, so I worked for an ad agency, where the CEO said I would have his job in five years, but then decided to attend seminary and become a pastor.
Experience
My tutoring experiences go way back into my childhood, and are still going strong on-line. I started young, and it still keeps me young at heart! As a seven- year sub in Missouri, I was in high demand, as I used my silly cartoon voices, acting and songwriting skills, and cartooning talents, as I learned that a fun environment was optimal for learning. I never had any discipline problems, as I am seven feet tall and promised to take the last few minutes of class to draw them each a picture.
Approach
Every child is very bright in their own way, and everyone wants to have fun learning. Without a bit of on-subject fun, learning is not likely to take place as optimally as it could. My approach is to make the subject appealing for my students. It is to draw them all in to begin the exploration of the subject matter with eager ears and minds.

MastersArts Tutoring
Art defies definition. I took some courses in college on down, but am mostly self-taught, as my professor considered cartooning and illustrations, especially whimsical, not to be art.
Anatomy Physiology I Tutoring
I had no courses in this, but aced the test, as I have always had a great interest in it, and because I know Latin and Greek.
Biology I Tutoring
Biology in Greek literally means "life word," Flora and fauna, even single-celled Euglenas have complex workings inside them.
English Tutoring
English has had several make-overs, from Germanic beginnings to French and Latin influences. The first English primer was, ironically, written in Latin. That is why the parts of speech have Latin-derived names!
French Tutoring
I love French, though I get nervous about speaking it. I took many electives in French in college, receiving mostly "As".I like to read French, and reading it fast and thoroughly.
Geography Tutoring
I am a visual thinker, so I always see what the whole globe looks like. Geography fascinates me. My grades in it and related subjects were mostly "A's".
Geology Tutoring
Geometry is Greek for "Land word". My sister's rock polisher, growing, up and taking the course in school was interesting, especially since there are only three main types of rock: sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous.
History Tutoring
History is such a vital subject for us to study, as it shows the do's and don'ts of the past, so that we may not repeat it. I mostly got A's in history, and my prof. urged me to major in it and become a teacher of it, as he himself was.
History Advance Tutoring
I know my history well and deeply, thanks to my one prof. who presented it as one, long, mesmerizing, and mirth-inducing story. Advanced history goes behind the scenes to all the juicy subplots. I love all of it and love teaching it.
Latin Tutoring
I have little experience speaking Latin but still read it with much fluency, even though I last studied it in boarding school. My gorgeous, single teacher brought it alive, as we read myths, military exploits and our textbooks as well. I tutored peers in it, thoroughly acing it all.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Finding the head sentence of each paragraph is half the battle in reading for comprehension, and it is not always the first sentence, which throws a lot of casual scholars off, me, myself, included, sometimes, in a test atmosphere, especially.!
Spanish I Tutoring
I love learning languages, and am learning and using more and more Spanish daily.
Study Skills Tutoring
Studying skillfully is half the homework battle. The general rule of thumb is five minutes of relaxation for every 15 minutes of studying
Religion Tutoring
Religion is man reaching out or inward to know a deity, but what if vice-versa was true? That is a great teaser for a religion class, especially one covering most religions and comparing them, for both similarities and differences. I have taught a wealth of religion as a pastor..
Psychology Tutoring
I have many books on psychology in my head and on my brain, as an adult child of an alcoholic, an almost lifelong schizophrenic and as someone with extreme chronic pain and bipolar syndrome. I have been in therapy nearly all my life, and aced college level psychology while still in high school. I appreciate its relatability of affective, cognitive and behavioral approaches..
Writing Tutoring
I love writing anything and everything. I was unanimously voted first producer for the Central Missouri-serving PBS station before it went on the air. I have a BS in English and love The Elements of Style. as each of us writers have our own unique styles.
Writing Advance Tutoring
Advanced writing is both academic and creative. Research papers aside, there is essay writing, poetry, short-story, song writing, comedic and dramatic play and screen writing. Advanced writing may also include novels and nonfiction books, such as biographies and histories.
Political Science Tutoring
Poli Sci, for short, this looks at democracies, dictatorships, communism and socialism. there is also what many call, "socio-communism".
German Tutoring
My love for German is embedded in my genes, since I am half-German. I am largely self-taught in the language, so well, in fact that I worked for the Concordia Historical Institute summarizing letters in German and placing them in chronological order, which no one had done before me.
Literature Tutoring
I relish good literature, from anywhere and everywhere! It is like poetic rather than pedantic, prose, rich in symbolism, metanomy, picture language. and faithful and faithless characters. It embraces the bad and good as one in each heroic and flawed character and chapter, as it strives to relate and be true to the human condition, encouraging one to never stop voraciously reading.
Education Tutoring
I would emphasize what I have learned through trial and error, that the best way to learn is to have fun, fun with each other, fun with the subject matter, fun being considerate of others and the teacher, as they have been considerate towards you. a happy classroom is a productive one.
French I Tutoring
I took several electives in French, a wonderful language, and aced them all. I continue to read my French books often, mostly my French Bibles and novels, the newest book is about a Japanese dancer. The best aspect of the language is that spelling and speaking are as easy as knowing how to pronounce the alphabet, unlike English, the most difficult language in the world to spell.
Greek Tutoring
I began learning Greek words from my mom, from the dictionary, when I turned three, because I wanted to be a veterinarian, but just for cats and dogs. Mom continued to do the same for me when I was four and I told my class I was going to be a pastor. By age eight I read the whole dictionary to learn more Greek; by eleven I received my first Latin and Greek books on Christmas, taking both of them in high school, where and
when I began tutoring in Greek--classical, koine and modern.
Biology Tutoring
I aced biology. Loved using the electron microscope, and even dissecting a frog, too. That formaldehyde was odiferous though! When I was about to graduate, my science teacher encouraged me to teach it, too!
Biology AP Tutoring
I loved biology, even tested out of it in college.
AP English Tutoring
English was made my mom and I the closest, I would say. I loved to read, as she did, write poetry, use good grammar, and looking up things in the dictionary or encyclopedia. When I told her I wanted to be a vet at age three and a pastor at age four. She said I would have to learn Latin and Greek. When I ask her what I could do if I learned Latin and Greek but decide4d to become neither, she said I could be an etymologist, studying word origins. I have always loved words as a result! I love teaching the English that I love!
Geometry Tutoring
Everyone has an angle. Well, at least every shape but those circular do. Geometry took me a while to get, but I never say die, and I aced it. I grew to love it. It became one of the subjects I tutored in while in high school.
AP History Tutoring
Man, I love history. I first found it a bit stuffy, until I had a teacher who brought it to life, as one, often humorous tale. From ancient to modern one thing has never changed, and that constant is human nature!
Homework Coach Tutoring
My parents instilled good study skills in me from an early age. They involve dedication, focus, organizing well, and bringing to bear one's own curiosity and questions to the subject matter.
Since then, I have also learned that five minutes of rest and fun after every ten minutes of steady studying is optimal.
Science Tutoring
I have always been a junior scientist, running experiments and often getting into trouble for my effort! LOL. In truth, science is all about being curious about the world within me and without, er, outside of me!
SAT Verbal/Writing Tutoring
English was my major, all my life, actually. My parents never talked babytalk to us, and my siblings and I rarely got our words wrong, as a result. Although I took the ACT, not the SAT, I am confident that the contents are very similar.
Government Tutoring
I have always had an interest in how things tick, including government. It rests in a republic and a democracy like ours a simple system of checks and balances of the three branches of power: the judicial, legislative, and executive.
