Fun Facts

- I have a cat named Don Figaro Amadeus, I rescued him back in 2018. You may hear him "sing" once in a while in the background. He likes to join my class/lectures, initially pretending to listen but eventually falling asleep.
-I like pickled radishes but I don't like cooked radishes.
-I also play the piano.
-I go on a 3-mile hike every Saturday if weather permits, this is for my weekly forest bathing.
- I lived in Fremont, CA for 12 years but I moved to beautiful Oregon in February of 2022.

About Me

-I was a practicing physician back in my home country the Philippines with about 7 years of clinical experience. I am also knowledgeable about Medical Surgical Nursing, Pediatrics, Maternal newborns, and Nutrition. Before I decided to go to Medical school, I was also teaching Botany and Biochemistry for BS Nursing students in the Philippines.
-I have taken and passed the United States Medical Licensing(US MLE) steps 1 and 2
-I have also taken the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL)

Experience

-I was a Vocational Nursing Instructor in Fremont, California from July 2013 to January 2023; I was primarily teaching Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology including dosage calculations, IV fluids calculations, and pediatric dosage calculations.
-I was also an NCLEX faculty coach with a focus on Pharmacology.
-I am knowledgeable about ATI, Canvas, and Evolve resources.

Approach

Before I start a class/tutoring session, I always ask myself, "If I'm the student, how do I want to learn from my tutor?" and "What does the student need to learn/understand?" I also spend a few minutes getting my student comfortable. A relaxed student is more receptive and asks questions freely. I try to make my explanation simple, concise, and relevant. I do not overwhelm the student with information.
