Fun Facts
Since my undergraduate career, my creative and academic writing has been published several times in a variety of publications. I've also presented at the 118th PAMLA annual conference in November 2021.
About Me
I am an English instructor at California State University-Bakersfield and Bakersfield College, teaching incoming freshmen Writing & Research courses.
Experience
I've been a college English instructor since 2019, and have since participated in numerous professional development programs and tutoring initiatives at CSUB's Writing Resource Center. Since I work closely with each of my students, I'm able to provide individual attention to their needs. This allows me to take on a mentor role. I personalize instruction and feedback so that every student can succeed.
Approach
Working with students predominantly from low socioeconomic backgrounds and underserved communities has allowed me to approach teaching more as a mentor with a focus on flexibility and accessibility. I've worked closely with each of my students throughout the semesters so I can motivate them to complete work to their strengths and interests, resulting in the highest quality work from each student. I emphasize the transferability of writing skills so they can apply to all courses.
