Fun Facts
I take pride in being both a scientist and an artist - I get to exercise both hemispheres of my brain! I have been doing ballet and modern dance since elementary school, and I will continue until the day I die. As a scientific researcher, I have an intense curiosity for the natural world. I love expressing scientific phenomena through the art of dance, which provides a means for connecting complex concepts in my brain. I am very grateful to be able to experience life through these two unique perspectives. Life is one big experiment, and it would behoove anyone to explore it through as many lenses as possible!
About Me
I graduated from Oregon State University (B.S. Bioresource Research) in 2013. Following graduation, I worked as a faculty research assistant for 8 months, culminating in co-authorship of two atmospheric physics research articles (currently in review). I am looking for work which will allow me to continue satisfying my passion for math and science, which leads to my primary motivation for becoming a portland">tutor: to share my curiosity for the natural world with other people and help students find their own unique path in life.
The wealth of interdisciplinary knowledge which I have gained from my unique combination of experiences in scientific research and dance is more than ready to pour out of my head and into the hands of others. Although this is my first official portland">tutoring job, I am confident in my ability to communicate my knowledge to others, especially in a one-on-one scenario. If you feel that my areas of expertise and personality may be a good fit for you or your child, please book as soon as possible!
As a queer, male ballet dancer I have had to put up with a lot of difficult behavior, especially while growing up. Such adversity has forced me to forge my own path in life, and I have often felt socially isolated as a result. With any challenge comes compassion, however, and the difficulties I have experienced in the past have given me the strength to truly be myself and not care what others think. In addition to providing academic knowledge, I hope to provide an equal amount of wisdom and guidance which will help give students the confidence to think for themselves. I will be much more than a talking textbook; I want to provide inspiration for students to be themselves -- while, of course, helping them ace their physics exams!
