Fun Facts
One passion of mine is playing the guitar. Did you know that playing the guitar for more than 10 years could change the physical structure of your brain? Studies have shown that musicians who have played an instrument for a long time have a larger corpus callosum, which is part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres and facilitates communication between them. So not only have I been honing my guitar skills, but I may have also been strengthening my brain in the process!
About Me
I am a science/california/los-angeles">computer science major and a freshman at Glendale Community College and am planning to transfer to Loyola Marymount University the next Fall semester.
Experience
Currently, I am teaching at Mathnasium, where I tutor kids from pre-school to high school. As a tutor, I have the opportunity to help students from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds improve their math skills and gain confidence in their abilities. Working with preschoolers is particularly fun, as they are often eager to learn and excited about math.
Approach
In my approach, I may use games and activities to teach basic concepts like counting, addition, and subtraction. It is important to make learning fun and engaging for young children, as it sets a positive tone for their future learning experiences. I also use Goal-Setting which involves identifying specific, measurable, and achievable goals and working to achieve them. This approach requires careful planning and a clear understanding of what is needed to achieve the desired outcome.
