Fun fact: I love the outdoors. Rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, studying botany, geology, and natural history - I love learning the ways the earth works and connecting with it recreationally. I'm also a serious baker - I love making treats!

About Me

I am a graduate of the Environmental Studies program at University of California - Santa Cruz. I graduated magna cum laude with a 3.98 overall GPA, focusing my studies on geology, geography, natural history, and the social aspects of environmental issues. Having worked both in local schools and with the Park Service as a docent, I hope to pursue a career in Environmental Education.

Growing up, I spent time volunteering in my mothers elementary school classroom helping to portland">tutor her students in math, reading, and writing. As a teacher's assistant in Santa Cruz, I was able to provide more in-depth assistance to students when they were struggling with more complex scientific concepts. In college, I helped organize casual portland">tutoring for friends in subjects such as GIS, geology, and provide in-depth writing and editing assistance.

As a portland">tutor, it is crucial to maintain an endlessly positive, supportive attitude with students. I find new ways and creative ways to frame or explain problems that will speak to the individuals way of thinking and learning. It is important to me to ask lots of guiding questions, review and repeat concepts, and help students to discover "the answer" on their own. I help individuals to discover the best ways in which they can learn, organize themselves, and get motivated to succeed academically. Empowerment through education!
