About Me

I have been a Project Lead for 2 years at the Maryland Department of Emergency Management and a substitute teacher with Baltimore City Schools for 4 years. My function engages stakeholders in Maryland's local education systems and with the assistance of a miniature team, provides the resource together with counsel, to support preventative safety efforts in each system. In addition, in my role as a substitute teacher, I worked with schools in the local system to provide support to students lacking the consistent presence of a teacher. In both capacities, my emphasis is to provide healthy, well being rounded students and develop wholesome resilient communities

Experience

In my duty as an Emergency Officer, I am frequently training administrators and staff. I am used to training adults in a professional environment and have done so for several years. I have been substituting for fewer years, but have instilled communicative skills with proficiency with diverse audiences

Approach

My approach to education is a passionate one. The elementary education I received was overseas and I observed as a child, how critical learning was to my community. I saw the harm of educational neglect in my adult relatives and friends in the neighborhood. The determinants of poverty that existed helped to fertilize my passion for assisting adults to become literate in a rapidly changing nation.
