About Me
I recently graduated as a biology major from Washington University in St. Louis. I am currently applying to medical school and have tutored students of various grade levels over the past 4 years.
Experience
I worked as a teaching assistant for multiple of my writing classes where I held review sessions with other college students. Throughout college, I have also been tutoring middle-school-aged students in a multitude of subjects. I was also Vice President of an organization called Gateway to the Great Outdoors for 2 years where we taught STEM lessons to local Title 1 elementary and middle schools on a weekly basis with the goal of fostering a love for learning, science, and the outdoors.
Approach
I prioritize positive reinforcement and collaboration during tutoring. It is important to guide students with positive affirmations and simple explanations so that they feel confident in their learning. I frequently struggled with math throughout middle and high school, and I found that repetition, encouragement, and guided practice helped me succeed. It is my goal to not only help students understand concepts but to help them discover personalized study habits and learning styles.
