Fun Facts
I love the outdoors! I run for fun. I enjoy doing any kind of craft. I especially love to crochet and make things (I started a crochet club at my last job). I have two cats. One of which loves to climb and if you don't watch out, he may jump on your back for fun.
About Me
I graduated from Concordia University with a degree and certificate in Elementary Education. I teach 6th grade in a self-contained class in all subjects. My favorite subjects to teach are language arts and science. I hope to eventually get my master's in education as well.
Experience
I was a substitute for about 3 years in a range of grades from kindergarten to 8th grade. I have taught 6th grade for two years in a self-contained classroom where I teach math, language arts, science, and social studies. I have taught the whole class, small groups, and worked one on one with students.
Approach
As a classroom teacher, I know how important one-on-one help can be. I also know from being a struggling student how much one-on-one helped make a difference in my learning. I believe that students learn best in an encouraging, positive environment. You only grow when you are given the ability to try and make mistakes. As a tutor, I am patient and love looking for any kind of growth that is made through assessing and reassessing students' progress. Celebrating the small steppingstones.
