Fun Facts
I love animals and currently have 2dogs and a parrot. On nice days I put my bird in her special birdie knapsack and take her with me for a bike ride. She loves to talk back to the birds in the trees as we move along the trail.
About Me
I'm an independent writer with over 100 books under my belt. I'm currently writing educational video scripts for kids, and blogs for a major toy company. I have a teaching background and have often been a guest author in schools helping kids read and write. I love seeing the smiles when they feel good about their writing and reading comprehension.
Experience
I went from teaching middle school music to writing for all kinds of media. I have written for ad agencies, toy companies, zoos and museums, and nature trails, and have written leveled readers and trade books for libraries and schools. My passion is helping kids learn and feel good about their progress.
Approach
I know what it's like to be bored in school and uninspired. I love to share my passions and those a-ha moments and convey that enthusiasm to others. My approach to teaching is creating an emotional connection to the subject, not just memorizing something.

Music Education
English Tutoring
I've written early readers as well as trade books for kids, including a phonics Series for Disney based on Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I've worked in the classroom as a visiting author to help kids understand different genres, reading comprehension, and writing in general.
Reading Tutoring
I've written many leveled readers for grades K-6 including books for Disney Publishing, such as MIckey Mouse Clubhouse, and Handy Manny. I understand what is required for kids to be able to read the words on a page and not get totally frustrated.
Writing Tutoring
I have experience teaching writing in the classroom, up through grade 6, and have taught classroom music grades 7-9. Because I've written many guided reading books for major publishers, I understand the need for high-interest, lower level reading abilities for this demographic.
Science Tutoring
I worked on a science television show for kids, wrote many non-fiction early readers on science topics, as well as wrote all of the signs and on-grounds performances for our local Zoo. I also wrote curriculum materials for other zoos, museums, and nature trails.
