About Me
As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher! I began working at a daycare center when I was in high school and decided that I was going to be an elementary teacher. As I continued to work in that daycare and then an accounting firm and a law firm, I graduated from Chestnut Hill College with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I was already teaching for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in a 5th grade classroom, and then I moved into teaching in the public sector.
I taught all grades from 2nd to 11th at some point and in some varying degree either in the Philadelphia School District and/or Haverford School District. My longest teaching assignment was as a grade 3 teacher for 10 years at Manoa Elementary School in Haverford School District. After finishing my second run in graduate school(my first being in Biology at Drexel University), I graduated from Saint Joseph's University with a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and education/pennsylvania/philadelphia">Special Education, with Reading Specialist Certification. I then became the Reading Specialist for the Haverford Middle and High Schools.
I am a high energy, positive, goal-oriented person. I bring these qualities, along with patience and understanding, to every academic coaching and philadelphia">tutoring session that I attend. My approach to philadelphia">tutoring and coaching is to reach the student where they are, guide and reinforce what they do know, and lead them to future academic success by having them obtain a feeling of confidence in their individual abilities. I believe that each individual is made up of a multitude of talents, and it is with mentoring and encouragement that these talents come to fruition!
