Fun Facts

Because I'm a physics major, you might expect that I want to go on to study Dark Matter or String Theory - nope, I want to study the brain. I'm fascinated by neuroscience and hope to be part of the revolutionary uncovering of details about the most complicated entity on our planet.
I also play drums and love music - a fascinating production of the brain too!

About Me

UMass Amherst Commonwealth Honors College class of 2017.
Sophomore Physics Major - 3.93 GPA as of Spring 2014 (soon to be updated).
Hope to attend graduate school in the field of Computational Neuroscience - but I'm keeping other options open as well!
I volunteer tutored all subjects in high school at The Bromfield School in Harvard, MA (#6 public school in the state).
I currently boston">tutor at the Learning Resource Center at UMass Amherst, in a variety of intro Math, Physics and science/massachusetts/boston">Computer Science classes. As I take more classes, I will boston">tutor them as well.
My boston">tutoring approach emphasizes deep understanding in the tutee. While I'm used to students coming in for boston">tutoring sessions hoping to simply get their homework done - I force them to understand conceptually what they are doing, and why they are doing it, as they do it. This is the basis for learning, and is crucial for the student to be able to work independently in the future. I love explaining concepts and methods, I ask open-ended questions, and expect quality effort from the students I boston">tutor.
