Fun Facts
I love music and play in a handbell choir.
About Me
I am currently a nurse at the University of New Mexico Hospital. I find myself missing working with students, but I don't want to go back to the classroom. I especially love helping struggling readers learn to read.
I have the world's cutest dog and enjoy spending time with her. I also enjoy reading whenever possible. I love being a nurse, but education, both as a teacher and as a student, is my passion.
Experience
I taught in APS for 16 years; education/new-mexico/albuquerque">special education science and reading, elementary self-contained education/new-mexico/albuquerque">special education, and third-grade general education. I've also worked as a substitute teacher.
Approach
I am trained in the Wilson Reading intervention program, which I have used for 14 years with great success. I am trained in Patterns for Success and Math U See as well. I am also familiar with many of the reading and math programs currently being used in public schools. I have a deep love of biology anatomy and physiology.
Aside from specific programs, I am very skilled at tailoring my approach to each individual student's needs.
