Fun Facts
While studying abroad in Oldenburg, Germany for my German Studies degree, I enrolled in a one-credit language-partner course where I learned Brazilian Portuguese from a native Brazilian who begged me to teach him how to use an American southern accent!
About Me
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in four years with two bachelor degrees (English and German Studies), an emphasis (Rhetoric and Writing), and two minors (Linguistics and Creative Writing). My goal is to attend an MFA program for creative writing at the University of California Davis.
Experience
As a peer mentor for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse English Department, I had the opportunity to tutor English-as-a-second-language students, as well as first-generation college students and students with learning impairments in college-level reading and writing courses. I have personally worked as a journalist, freelance writer, and as a publishing editor---as well as a summer preschool teacher!
Approach
When I was young, I had to visit a speech therapist---maybe this instilled a love for language and for helping others in me! I want students to feel proud of their accomplishments, because a journey is a million steps.
