Fun Facts

I am an avid tennis player and fan. I am on a tennis court if I am not working as an engineer or teaching. I travel to a different country each year for vacation and to expand my cultural exposure. Also, I explore solid waste collection and disposal activities in different countries to help enhance solid waste management services in Montgomery County.

About Me

I am a Senior Engineer with Montgomery County Government who manages Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) for solid waste operations and facilities. I have been working as an engineer for almost 20 years. I began my first teaching job in the summer of 2002 as an Upward Bound Program Math Leader at the University of South Alabama before graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I have been working as a engineer and part-time math tutor/teacher since November 2004.

Experience

I worked for Huntington Learning Center for about 10 years. I worked as a math and ACT/SAT tutor. Also, I worked for A Plus Success for about 3 years. I had the opportunity to teach both elementary and secondary students. Also, I have experience with teaching troubled teens and adults in the DC Restorative Justice Program. Ultimately, I am comfortable teaching/tutoring in and outside of a conventional classroom setting while accommodating multiple learning styles.

Approach

Based on my expansive experience as a tutor/teacher, I understand that each student is special and requires focused attention. My teaching style and approach allows me to understand how the student comprehends and processes the lesson/skill. Then, I am able to develop a plan that ensures the highest level of comprehension by reintroducing the lesson/skill in a more relatable manner based on how the student comprehends and processes information required to master each lesson and skill.
