About Me
I am currently in the last semester of my school counseling master's program at GCU completing an internship at an elementary school, as I plan on fulfilling my dream of becoming an elementary school counselor. I have 10 years of experience as a teacher in various roles covering K-8 grades including ESL. Reading Interventionist, and Math Interventionist. I have led tutoring sessions and taught summer school as well during my tenure.
Experience
Ten years teaching in all subjects.
Specialized in ESL, Reading Interventions, and Math Interventions.
Experience in tutoring in after-school programs for grades 1-5 in both reading and math.
Experience in teaching summer school for grades 1-6.
Approach
I believe establishing a safe, positive environment is vital for a successful tutoring program including visuals and manipulatives. Learning the students' strengths is very important from the beginning and celebrating all accomplishments, big or small is a must. I use the model: "I do it, We do it, You do it." I like to make learning fun when applicable, so they can remember what they have learned including concepts and strategies necessary to be successful in class.
