Fun Facts
A passion of mine is helping kids learn and encouraging their curiosity in a safe environment. I love problem-solving, so some of my favourite activities involve rock climbing, reading, and canyoneering! I want to teach English abroad eventually, and I am currently teaching myself Spanish in my free time!
About Me
I am a senior at Grand Canyon University and begin my student teaching next fall. After, I plan on getting my masters in TESOL and a certificate in TEFL. My ultimate goal is to teach in the States and then move abroad to teach English as a foreign language.
Experience
As I’m finishing up my BS I have had the opportunity to teach students in small groups and one on one to further my career. I worked as a Behavioral Therapist and have experience in teaching phonics, letters and reading. I currently work as a volunteer at a private school 2nd-grade classroom. This allows me to expand and refine my teaching skills.
Approach
As a young elementary student, I struggled with comprehension of the material that I was learning based on my teacher’s methods and lack of engagement and encouragement. When I entered the 4th grade, that all changed, I began to love learning and felt encouraged and cared for by teachers which sparked my curiosity to want to learn more! I feel that it’s my responsibility to help students become better learners to help them be successful and feel empowered!
