Enjoys travelling, the great outdoors, musical theatre and learning new languages. Grew up in Southern California raising sheep and goats while a part of 4-H. Studied abroad in Italy during college. Bibliophile and history nerd. Former living history actress and museum docent.
About Me
I am a graduate student at Liberty University. I am making a career change in education from teaching general education to education/michigan/detroit">special education.
Experience
Since 2015 I have spent most of my teaching career as a general education teacher. I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, High School History, K-8 Home Study, Study Skills, and K-5 education/michigan/detroit">Special Education. Before becoming a teacher I was a education/michigan/detroit">Special Education paraprofessional and instructional aide for mild to moderate exceptional students. During college, I worked as a preschool teacher and nanny.
Approach
I believe each student has something to contribute to the world. I hope to build each student up and renew their self-confidence by growing academically. I enjoy helping students discover newfound passions and light bulb moments when concepts suddenly click.

As a K-8 home study teacher for three years I had the opportunity to teach students one on one math using an online homeschool curriculum called Calvert Learning. This curriculum went from K-8.
Biology Tutoring
While working as a high school supervisory teacher at a credit recovery school (for three years) I tutored students in biology.
English Tutoring
While a high school supervisory teacher for grades 9-12 I had the opportunity to teach students one on one ELA as well as help write curriculum for high school ELA.

Although I have not taught AP history as a class I have had the opportunity to write curriculum for World, European and American History, I also studied abroad and have a minor in Renaissance History.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
While employed as a high school supervisory teacher for three years, I was able to help teach students reading comprehension. I was able to help high school students with remedial reading comprehension along with assignments given to students who attended college prep ELA classes.
Study Skills Tutoring
While employed as a high school supervisory teacher for three years I was able to teach students study skills either one on one and in a workshop.
Religion Tutoring
During my first two years of college, I was required to take two years of Bible classes. This included Greek, Theology the history of Christianity. Throughout my experience teaching 7th grade World History I also had the opportunity to teach students about the religion of Islam.
Writing Tutoring
While employed as a high supervisory teacher for grades 9-12, I had the opportunity to teach students how to write college prep essays in a one-on-one and sometimes small group setting.

Throughout my employment with Sylvan Learning, I was able to tutor high school students in all parts of the ELA portion of the SAT, including Reading, Writing, Grammar, Reading, and Verbal.
