I grew up in Illinois but moved to Texas a couple of years ago and love it! In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities and anything related to art and design.

About Me

I received my bachelor's in speech and hearing sciences from the University of Illinois in 2021. I am currently working as a speech-language pathologist assistant at a school district. I work with students on speech sounds, reading, reading comprehension, phonological awareness, grammar, listening/memory skills, fluency, and more. Most of the students I work with have learning disabilities or developmental disorders. I help them improve their receptive/expressive language skills.

Experience

I have many years of experience working with children/students. I worked at a preschool for 4 years in my undergraduate years at a human development laboratory, tutored elementary students for 2+ years, worked as a substitute teacher for 2+ years, and worked as a speech-language pathologist assistant for 2 years. I love working with students and can’t imagine doing anything else!

Approach

As a child, I struggled with my receptive and expressive language and had amazing teachers and tutors who helped me exercise my brain with strategies to help me be successful in my classes and test-taking. I took longer to learn things than others but was just as capable as them and needed some help getting there. I believe realizing I needed help was the first step, taking the steps to be active in receiving help was the next step, and applying the help I received from others was the final step
