Fun Facts
When I'm not helping students master math, English, or French, you can find me on the field playing ultimate frisbee!
About Me
Hi! My name is Kadijatu Turay, and I have a passion for learning and helping others succeed. I grew up in Senegal, which is why I’m fluent in French, before moving to Philadelphia and later settling in Houston.
I’ve always been interested in healthcare, and in high school, I had the opportunity to participate in a selective healthcare program where I shadowed multiple professionals in hospitals across Philly. That experience sparked my love for nursing! Now, I’m taking my pre-requisites at Houston Community College and planning to transfer to a nursing program to earn my BSN.
Outside of school, I volunteer at MD Anderson and work part-time at a pediatric clinic. I also have a strong background in tutoring.
I’m excited to help you reach your academic goal, so let’s get started!
Experience
I’ve tutored high school students in English, French, and math, as well as elementary students in grades 3-5. My strong foundation in college algebra and elementary math allows me to break down concepts. As a fluent French speaker and national Gold Medalist in the Grand Concours, I focus on immersive language learning. I tailor my approach to each student’s needs, using visual aids, games, and real-life examples to make learning engaging, effective, and enjoyable.
Approach
I know the value of a great tutor because I once needed one myself. In elementary school, I struggled until my tutor provided structure and broke down concepts in a way that finally made sense. Now, I do the same for my students. In math, I focus on step-by-step problem-solving. For French, I use full immersion, only speaking French and incorporating games, puzzles, and media. My goal is to boost confidence and make learning engaging, structured, and effective!
