Fun Facts
I am an avid polo player and love to travel around playing at different schools. I was the varsity men's captain at Virginia Tech and it was so much fun getting to play with such a talented group.
About Me
I graduated from Virginia Tech with my bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering and master's in Mechanical Engineering magna cum laude. I was on the dean's list for most of my undergraduate years, won the James H. Sword Award for best senior design project simulation, and was named the Innovative Additive Manufacturing 3D champion.
I have also worked for many years in marketing, graphic design, and business management for a number of companies ranging from small businesses to biotech start-ups.
Experience
As an engineer, I worked in a very diverse array of fields. My undergraduate research work was on snake robots and limbless locomotion dynamics. My senior design project focused on vehicle motion and simulation. During my master's, I designed and optimized GPS systems in conjunction with the Navy. Lastly, I have experience in 3D printing and drone design through my participation in the ASME 3D drone race.
However, as a graphic designer, I specialize in the production of marketing materials.
Approach
I strongly believe in tying anything I'm teaching to a real-world practical skill. Students shouldn't have to needlessly learn skills they will never use, however, most class curriculums can still be tied to a practical and fun skill that students would be eager to learn.
