About Me

I have recently retired from Palo Alto College/Alamo Community College District. I took the position of Academic Lab Technician/Chemistry in 2019 when I decided that I was not ready to be fully retired. Most of my professional career was spent as a drug development chemist. In between, I served extensively in the nonprofit community in San Antonio, especially with the Bexar County Master Gardeners.

Experience

I have worked in a number of chemistry research settings. I typically served in the dual role of chemist and project manager. The groups I worked with were comprised of a wide variety of degree and skill levels, I often mentored junior members of the group.

Approach

I have a very hands-on approach to learning and find translation of academic concepts to real-life skills to be a very effective mode of teaching.
