Fun Facts
I went skydiving with my brother as a high school graduation gift, and it was amazing! It is also now my go-to fun fact. I also have a 5-year-old cat named Gus who is the best roommate I've ever had, and he loves to work with me often. I like to play video games when I have some free time.
About Me
I am graduating from the University of Florida this May with a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Cell Science, and I am planning on beginning a master's program this fall in Chemical Biology. I am from Iowa, but have been living in Florida for almost 14 years, so I call it home now. While finishing my undergraduate degree, I have been working at a microbiology lab, and it has fueled my fire for science and learning.
Experience
I was a golf coach for The First Tee and have babysat and nannied for years, so I'm very experienced working with kids. I have never officially been a tutor before, but I taught ESL to adults in my community, and it was a lot of fun. During COVID-19, I was a full-time nanny for a few months, and a major part of the day was doing e-learning with the kids and essentially being their elementary teacher at home. It was great!
Approach
I bounced between regular and honours classes in middle school since I always found regular classes too easy and honours classes too difficult. We decided to get a tutor for my honours math class in middle school, and I remember the huge confidence boost I got when she helped me realise I could figure out the hard stuff too, after years of telling myself otherwise.

Although I have no certification for this skill, I am proficient in using many softwares on computers. I work with my computer, and also use it as a hobby playing computer games and making videos with my friends. I became Microsoft Powerpoint Certified in 2017 in High School, and use Excel and Word daily for work.
