I am a nature girl, and I walk my dog in the local nature preserves daily! I also love tea and writing poetry.

About Me

It is my goal to put my interdisciplinary Literature, Biology, and Chemistry major to good use. I graduated with honours from George Fox University and have spent my time since teaching, tutoring, and caregiving. I enjoyed a career as a SpEd teacher, and in the years to come, I became a Registered Behaviour Technician and provided therapy for children with autism for a year before returning to teaching. I am comfortable teaching science and math, but my true passion is English reading and writing.

Experience

I am a seasoned English tutor and teacher with several years' experience working especially with students with disabilities. I have a passion for those who struggle with school, and I make it my mission in life to help those who need it most. I am TEFL certified and am comfortable teaching non-native speakers.

Approach

I scaffold my lessons: "I do," "we do," "you do." I start my lessons by providing an example or key concept, progressing to work alongside my student to practice the new material, then to prompt the student to produce the material independently! Every student learns differently, and I want to honour that in all I teach.
