I have a fear of heights, but I joined the rock climbing club at my high school. I trained hard and I won many high school competitions. I was a violinist for a decade, but this all happened because I was curious about what “Suzuki” meant. However, this was a happy incident because I grew fond of playing the violin and became first chair for my orchestra.

About Me

I am a current Sophomore studying Pre-Med with an emphasis on psychology at Creighton University. I chose psychology because learning about human behavior was fascinating in high school. Learning about people and the reasons behind certain actions or thoughts can be very helpful in understanding human life. Learning about classical conditioning and operant conditioning, and the behaviors with learning, was interesting for me. Learning about neurons and synaptic signalling, in alignment with medication, was also fascinating. With this in mind, having such knowledge captivates me to help people in this field. This is why I want to attend medical school and practice psychiatry, as this field perfectly encapsulates my desire to learn more about psychology and help people simultaneously.

Experience

In high school, I had the chance to tutor my peers in chemistry and statistics. I found that I enjoyed teaching others in these subjects, for it helped both parties to gain a better understanding. I will be tutoring at my university this upcoming semester, but I am looking to gain more experience.

Approach

I came to America when I was 7 years old and could not speak English at all. I attended ESL to gain a better understanding of English grammar. I had a teacher in ESL who supported me through every step and hurdle. Despite my lack of speaking at the time, I could still process numbers and gained an interest in math and the sciences. This interest led me to attend biology-driven courses and math sciences as my primary study in college.
