Fun Facts
I have a passion for rock climbing (and rock climbing instruction),
I've donated over 30" of hair to charity,
And I love strategy games (video, board, or otherwise)!
About Me
I have my bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Cornell University, and I stuck around for a Master’s Degree, which I completed this last December, also in mechanical engineering. I was a rock climbing instructor for two and a half years in Cornell's Outdoor Education department and was a teaching assistant for Cornell's Meche undergraduate fluid mechanics class and graduate flight dynamics class.
I have a passion for academic instruction, and I have strong opinions on the power of a good student-instructor relationship.
Experience
After consistently scoring 800s on my Math SAT in high school, I spent >8 months tutoring my underclass peers as an in-home tutor. In my time at Cornell, I worked as a teaching assistant where I could hold office hours--optional small group instruction--and run lab activities (as well as design such activities).
After falling in love with rock climbing in college, I worked as a rock climbing instructor where I could interact with groups of ~16-18 students in weekly instructional sessions.
Approach
At the most intense academic institutions, every student relearns how to study, collaborate, and perform to the highest standards; lest risk falling behind. I struggled with the challenge of adjusting to university life and rising to the challenge of academics until I met colleagues who made teamwork, trust, and excellence easier than I could imagine.
I am strongly of the belief that students can achieve their very best if they are surrounded by those who set high (but reachable!) standards.
