Fun Facts
A fun fact about me is that I've been to 26 countries and 25 states! I'm also a distance runner and the oldest of four siblings.
About Me
This spring, I'm graduating from Westside Christian High School. I will be attending George Fox University in the fall, where I've been chosen for the Dean Scholar's Program. As of now, my major is undecided, but I will most likely be doing Biomedical Engineering or Biology. I hope to become a Physician's Assistant or a doctor in the future.
Experience
I started high school two grades ahead in math, meaning I had special opportunities to learn and tutor throughout high school. My junior year, I tutored math labs at my school, and then my senior year, I was in an AP Calculus BC class, where we spent around half our class time tutoring pre-algebra students. In addition, I tutored middle school math at West Hills Christian School for my Senior Leadership Project. I spent 30+ hours there working with students on homework and learning.
Approach
Throughout my education, I've loved math (and most other subjects), and I especially loved it when I understood a subject and was able to explain it to classmates from a different angle. While tutoring for the last several years, I've used a few different approaches. The main way I tutor is by asking a student how they're thinking about the project, offering corrections, and, if needed, walking through it with them. If they still don't get it, I will continue looking at it with them.
