I did a research project comparing the labelled amounts of acetaminophen in over-the-counter painkiller medications to the actual amount present using UV-Vis spectroscopy in my Freshman year!
About Me
I am a junior at Berkeley studying chemistry and am working to get a minor in mathematics. In high school, I took upper-division math courses at California State University, Fresno, and am taking discrete math in the fall.
Experience
As a senior in high school, I was a calculus tutor for struggling AP Calculus AB students. Despite the teacher not actively engaging in the class, we managed to persevere, and my two students that I tutored managed to get both 5's on the AP test, which I am very proud of. Additionally, in my senior year, I was a teacher's assistant in chemistry, where I would grade worksheets and assist throughout the classroom to help students learn chemistry.
Approach
My approach to tutoring is to come from a place of understanding as to where the problems arise. Simply showing a student how to do a problem without understanding the reasoning and methodology behind the answer is often how a student is taught, and that can often lead to failure. As a tutor, I like to show the student why something works or where the answer comes from, rather than instilling a 'plug and chug' type methodology that will not benefit their overall skill in the area.

I tutored for Calculus AB my senior year, and am proficient in the subject, having never received less than an A on any math course.

I have taken Math 76 and Math 77 at California State University, Fresno, and I currently have a 4.0 GPA there. I took Math 54 at Cal, which is Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, also receiving an A in that course.
Calculus AP Tutoring
I took Calculus AB in my junior year of high school. In my senior year, I tutored multiple students, two of whom went on to receive 5's on the AP test in May. As a tutor, I come from a place of understanding about the frustration that may arise with Calculus, as my teacher did not care for the subject, and I took it upon myself to make sure no other student should feel that way.
