Fun Facts
I love to travel and learn about new cultures! I am also going back to school to get my PhD in mental health counseling. When I'm not working, I'm either traveling, walking my two dogs, or hanging out on the beach! I'm also an only child and am adopted. I was a competitive swimmer and am originally from Cape Cod, so I still love to swim, but now it is on a beach and more for fun!
About Me
Originally from Cape Cod, I now live in Waterford, CT. I have been a high school Spanish teacher for five years. Recently, I have decided to switch careers to mental health counselling. During this transition, I am tutoring because I still love to teach!
I went to UVM for undergrad, got a degree in Secondary Education and also in Spanish. Then I decided to do an accelerated Master's program for Educational Leadership, which was also at UVM. Now I am getting my PhD from AIC in mental health!
Experience
I have been teaching for five years, was a tutor in college at UVM, and have experience prepping students for a variety of tests, including college exams and the PRAXIS and MTELs.
I taught high school Spanish in an inner-city school outside of Boston for three years and then taught in a small rural school in CT for two years. I also developed and facilitated PD programs about diversity, inclusion, and teaching practices.
Approach
My teaching and tutoring approach is student-centered, supportive, and adaptive to individual needs. I strive to create a safe and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Mistakes and a growth mindset are how we learn best- even I make mistakes sometimes, but that is how we challenge ourselves and get better! I also believe in building confidence through positive reinforcement and encouraging critical thinking.
