Fun Facts
I taught English for Disney English and lived in Shanghai for a year, teaching English to Chinese Students. During my time there, I had an opportunity to interact with different age groups and parents, so I am comfortable communicating with parents. My wife is also a teacher, and she teaches English as a second language, and believe it or not, we both taught for Disney English. Also, in all of my teaching experience, I have been known to be firm, fun, and fair.
About Me
I graduated from the maryland">University of Maryland with a Sociology degree. From there, I got certified to teach English as a second language and taught abroad for a year. After teaching abroad, I got my MSDE 90-hour certification and worked in child care, where I worked with 2-year-olds for about a year and a half. Currently, I am a 3rd-grade teacher, and I teach Math, ELA, Science, Social studies, and health. I am also pursuing my MS in Kinesiology/Applied Exercise Science.
Experience
I am going into my 5th year of teaching 3rd grade and through out my time teaching, I have gained experience in planning lessons, differentiating lessons for students, teaching lessons, collaborating with parents, collaborating with special educators, collaborating with other teachers, leading a grade level, sending messages to parents, calling parents, encouraging students, and any other duty a 3rd grade teacher is expected to follow. I hope to apply these teaching skills to tutoring.
Approach
I feel that each child is capable of learning, and sometimes all it takes to get them to a comfortable place with their learning is showing them a learning style that fits best for their individual needs. I also feel that it’s important for students to acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses objectively, so they can make realistic progress that they can be proud of.
