Fun Facts
One of my favorite ways to pass time is hanging out with my cat Sparrow, whom I've had for five years. Her favorite activities are watching birds from my balcony and chasing the laser pointer toy. If you have pets, I'd love to hear about them!
About Me
I am a education/washington/redmond">special education teacher for the Edmonds School District. I have my teaching certification in education/washington/redmond">Special Education and English Language Arts. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing and a BA in Professional and Creative Writing. I enjoy sharing my love for reading and writing with students, and I love getting to know students and finding the right approach to suit their unique needs.
Experience
I am currently a education/washington/redmond">special education teacher and have a teaching certificate in education/washington/redmond">special education and English Language Arts. I worked with education/washington/redmond">special education students for about a year as a substitute teacher and paraeducator at a high school level. I was also an English 101 instructor for two years at Western Washington University. Previously, I worked as a teaching assistant in a Montessori school for 4-6th grade and various summer camps for K-12.
Approach
I provide tailored support for students that fits their needs and specific learning styles. I am comfortable working with students who have varied learning styles or are education/washington/redmond">special education students. I will adapt my materials so that a student can best access and understand them. I enjoy getting to know students well so I can provide them with a learning experience that is individualised and enjoyable. I will communicate clearly with both the student and the parent at every step in the process.
