About Me

I’m Mrs. McKenzie, a dedicated Biology and Science teacher! I have a genuine passion for science and love making the subject come alive through hands-on experiments, real-world connections, and interactive lessons.
I believe that every student can think like a scientist—with curiosity, creativity, and confidence. My classroom is a place where questions are welcomed, mistakes are part of the learning process, and every voice matters. I use group work, discussions, technology, and engaging activities to help you understand the “why” behind what we learn.
My goal is not just to teach science facts, but to help you develop critical thinking skills and a deep understanding of the world around you. I’m here to support you, challenge you, and grow with you throughout the year. Let’s make this a fun and exciting learning journey together!

Experience

I have over four years of experience teaching Science, including two years as a Biology teacher at the Manning School in Jamaica and two years in Halifax County Schools. These roles have strengthened my ability to engage diverse learners, create hands-on, meaningful lessons, and support student growth through a student-centered, inclusive approach.

Approach

My approach to reaching students is rooted in building strong relationships, creating a safe and respectful learning environment, and making science relevant to their lives. I strive to meet students where they are—academically, emotionally, and socially—while encouraging them to grow through inquiry, exploration, and reflection. I use a mix of hands-on activities, real-world examples, and student voice to keep learning engaging and meaningful.
