About Me

I am an aspiring teacher currently enrolled in a Teaching Credential Program at National University, seeking to work with middle-class and high school students, helping them reach their goals and have the tools to face the modern world. I have had a long academic career, having received my BA in Classical Studies from UC Santa Cruz in 2009, achieved the Dean's Honour List in 2008, and received my MA in Political Science from SUNY University at Buffalo in 2012.

Experience

I am currently a paraprofessional with the San Francisco Unified School District, with over a year of experience supporting middle school special needs students and over a year of experience working with at-risk students and leading after-school fitness programs. I enjoy working with students and helping them build their social emotional learning and learning development.

Approach

My approach is being a servant-leader, where I promote self-efficacy and use the tools and abilities that the student has learned and knows to help them succeed in their goals. Whatever method or path the student is most comfortable with, I try to adapt to their learning to help best teach new skills while maintaining goals, assignments, and deadlines. I am also personable and like to understand the students' strengths, challenges, and interests.
