I like to unwind by creating abstract art with Sharpie markers and printer paper! I was a high school and college debate coach, so I love argumentation-based learning! I wrote many poetry chapbooks in High School! I have two master's degrees, not just one!
About Me
I am a PhD in English researching disability and alternative embodiment in Literature and Digital Media! I have Master's degree in Communications as well as Disability Studies, plus a PhD in English! I can teach or tutor a range of topics in the humanities, from cultural history, digital humanities, social scientific methodologies, as well as the use of close reading, archival and ethnographic methodologies! I enjoy video games and movies, but I love literature, poetry and peer-reviewed journal articles!
Experience
I have coached high school and college competitive policy debate! I have tutored in middle school as well as college-level reading, writing and literature! I have worked with students with disabilities! I have taught college-level American Literature courses! I organize reading groups for fun! I have edited and revised many people's writing! I have researched social topics through a series of qualitative social scientific methods!
Approach
I enjoy conversational styles of pedagogy where direct verbal communication allows the instructor and student to share knowledge and ideas directly! I am good at offering reading, vocabulary or grammar-based drills for students to work on to increase their abilities! I can teach according to specific course material or locate good textbooks for students to learn from! I can assist students in reading literature more closely or in writing creatively by coaching them on what to focus on.
