Fun Facts

I have two older brothers, and together we love to go to baseball or basketball games! When I'm not working or watching sports, I'm baking or cooking. I have several pets, too, so I try to spend some quality time with them, too.

About Me

I'm a current law student who is changing course after a lifelong love of math. Tutoring is helping me pay for classes, and I'm very passionate about helping others reach their full potential. I want to one day work in contract law.

Experience

I finished my college math requirements while I was still in high school, so I spent a lot of time tutoring math in my senior year and throughout my undergraduate degree. At my busiest, I had 7 students and all of them not only passed their classes that year, but they passed with flying colors. I am excited to get back into something I love - helping students!

Approach

Math is like a second language - if you don't have a solid understanding of the basics, you're never going to be fluent. I like to get to the root cause of a student's trouble, not just hand them a trick to get them through a worksheet. I meet each student where they are, adjust my teaching methods to best help them, and give them positive reinforcement to build up confidence.

Algebra Tutoring

I was a straight-A student in all of my pre-algebra and Algebra courses. I know how to break new concepts into something recognizable and understandable, and I served as a Teacher's Assistant for my algebra teacher in high school!

Anatomy Physiology I Tutoring

I took Anatomy/Physiology as an additional credit in high school because I was so interested in the subject. I not only received an A in the class, I earned college credit for it as well! To this day, I can name almost all of the bones and muscles in the body.

Pre Calculus Tutoring

Pre-Calculus was the first math class where I struggled with the material. I know what it is like for a student who did well before to struggle with a math, and I understand how to best connect new concepts to old, familiar ones. I ended up with an A at the end of that class and I learned a lot more than just Pre-Calc.

English Tutoring

I was a reading fiend in school! I took AP English for two years before I moved into an IB program and picked up with IB English. I understand both programs very well, and I excel at coaching students through literary analysis, writing papers, and meeting advanced goals as well as remedial ones.

Geometry Tutoring

Geometry is one of my favorite classes! I got As in my Geometry courses, the first of which I took when I was just in 7th grade. I'm excited to be getting back into geometry, and hopefully passing a love of the subject to your student.

History Tutoring

As the daughter of a historian, I have always loved history. I took AP U.S. History, as well as Higher Level IB History and received college credit for all of those courses. I got As in all of those classes.

Homework Coach Tutoring

Homework is a lot more than just worksheets. I learned how to balance my homework and other extra curriculars with ease, and I know how to coach a student through homework so the lessons inside the classroom stick, and so they develop smart organizational skills to last a lifetime.

Math Tutoring

I almost majored in math simply because it was one of my favorite classes. I actually finished college-level calculus while I was a junior in high school, and I worked my senior year as a tutor to help other students catch up. I'm excited to help your student exceed in math.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

As a former AP and IB student, I am no stranger to reading for an academic level. I have strategies and tools for students to learn that will help them well into their college years, and I can coach them through readings for class to best develop their own style.

Writing Tutoring

I took college-level writing 101 in my senior year of high school and graduated with an A. That class not only helped me write college admission essays that worked, but also honed my research paper skills. I can help students develop serious academic skills as well as help them develop a personal voice.

Government Tutoring

As a current government employee, law student, and AP Government graduate, I really understand government in a clear way. I have all the critical knowledge to help students pass tests, and all the personal stories to keep them engaged and interested in a sometimes dry subject.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

I excelled in pre-algebra and soared through with an A. I make new concepts fun instead of scary, and I can help kids transition from elementary math into algebra seamlessly. I am excited to help students engage with their math classes and the changing expectations of more difficult math.

Middle School Math Tutoring

Math is all about the basics. I keep my students engaged with proven methodology and solid basics, so they are prepared for whatever comes their way. I love making complex concepts like fractions, ratios, and early geometry understandable for students.

7th Grade Math Tutoring

I completed my 7th grade math class a year early and with an A. I know how difficult the transition to higher level math can be, and I am excited to help others with that transition. A majority of my students over the years have been in middle school and I know it like the back of my hand.

Science Tutoring

As a three-time science fair winner, I loved science in school! I passed all science classes in middle school with As. I can help students through the scientific inquiry process, early introductions to labs and experiments, and research topics frequently touched on in middle school.

Study Skills Tutoring

Middle school is a big change from elementary! Having tutored for middle school students, I know that half the battle is helping students learn how to stay organized and focused, and developing smart strategies for tackling new concepts. I'm excited to help your middle schooler develop their own skills to be successful.

Reading Tutoring

I was part of an advanced reading class in middle school, and read a variety of classic literature years before my friends did. I want to help students fall in love with reading, and that starts with meeting them where they are before expanding their horizons. Fostering passion in reading is the first step in fostering reading comprehension, analysis, and understanding.

Elementary Math Tutoring

Elementary math is the building block for everything else. I want to make sure your student has the strongest possible base of understanding, so all the other math classes that come next is an easy, understandable transition. I stick to tried and true methods for teaching addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as well as introducing very early understandings of fractions.

2nd Grade Math Tutoring

One of my youngest students over the years started with me in Kindergarten and stayed with me until they were in 4th grade. I will help students learn and understand place value and decimals, as well as solidify the lessons from last year.

3rd Grade Math Tutoring

3rd grade math introduces shapes, one of my favorite lessons to teach! I like to go deeper than the lesson in the classroom so students don't just learn to memorize their multiplication tables, they learn why the multiplication tables work. Deepening understanding of these critical concepts prime students for the math concepts in future classes, and that extra step will go a mile.

4th Grade Math Tutoring

As I push students with more complicated math concepts, I try to remember how I felt in elementary school. Doing math homework became a mess of tears at some point, and I want to avoid that with your student at any cost. Keeping students engaged in a positive and meaningful way now will keep them in a math-positive mindset.

5th Grade Math Tutoring

Prepping students for middle school is key here. I try to connect the concepts they've been learning for years to what they might see in middle school, including more complex geometry and real-life word problems. I want your student to spring out of 5th grade with a lot of enthusiasm for math.

6th Grade Math Tutoring

I was labeled "talented and gifted" in math and completed my 6th grade curriculum early. I know how important it is to keep students interested and excited for classes, even as they get ready for a new adventure in middle school.

Social Studies Tutoring

I like to help students through social studies by connection classroom lessons to the world around them. Giving them a solid base in history, world geography, and early civics is critical to helping students succeed in future classes before they even think about them. I want your student to understand the world around them and to hone a curious, thoughtful mind.
