Fun Facts
I'm a total foodie and love foods that are from other cuisines and countries, a passionate cyclist, sock enthusiast and lover of four-pawed furry friends. I'm passionate about learning and someday want to go back to school for my microbiology master's degree.
About Me
I'm a Medical Laboratory Scientist, and have been practising for about 6 years now. I've chosen to specialise in microbiology and have had many roles over the years, starting as a tutor, then as an adjunct teaching assistant, a microbiology technical supervisor and now microbiology supervisor. I love what I do and am grateful to have the opportunity to create a positive impact on patient care.
Experience
As an undergrad, I tutored Anatomy and Physiology students as a Supplemental Instructor. I then had the opportunity to become a teaching assistant for Microbiology and co-taught collectively for 2 years (4 semesters). I've taught mostly college-age students, but I am familiar with the fundamentals of subjects like anatomy and physiology, basic biology, AP Biology and intro microbiology. Currently, I teach the Microbiology Lectures/Labs for the Medical Lab Science program as the micro supervisor.
Approach
I wish I had these types of resources available online when I went to school. I remember feeling lost in some subjects in school, but then I had a great set of mentors and tutors to get me through. Becoming a tutor comes from my heart, as my mom taught science, and it's my way of paying it forward to help students who may be in the same shoes I was as a young person in academic studies. I've taught in group settings, on one, and have also tutored for these subjects.
