About Me

Hello! My name is Lauren, it’s nice to meet you! I have graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University. I am an educator with experience supporting youth populations in both academic and community settings. In my opinion, a student only truly learns when there is a sense of joy in the process of learning, and I aspire to be the kind of educator who encourages that joy. My lesson plans often take advantage of virtual field trips, hands-on activities, and interactive classwork that make the learning stick.

Experience

I have two years of experience tutoring youth in literature, reading skills, science, writing skills, and elementary and middle school math. I have also provided college preparatory service and study skills training for students with learning difficulties. I have experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia, developmental delays, and other mental health challenges such as schizophrenia and oppositional defiant disorder. I am always willing to work closely with students and their parents to meet their specific needs, and as such, I will provide a free consultation upon request to plan and prepare for tutoring sessions. I encourage students to reach out early and often, and I am always willing to provide a timely response!
