Fun Facts
I’m an adventure guide when I’m not tutoring! I’ve led kayaking, climbing, and hiking trips—and I bring that same spirit of exploration and problem-solving into helping students learn.
About Me
I’m Derek, father of two boys (9 and 13) with a third on the way, an engineer who loves learning, teaching and mentoring. I’m continuing my education, working towards a degree in Business Management. I bring patience, structure, and real-world experience to tutoring, helping students build confidence, master skills, and reach their GED goals.
Experience
I bring a unique mix of real-world experience as an engineer, veteran, and adventure guide into tutoring. I’ve mentored students, teammates, and young people in both technical and outdoor settings, teaching everything from problem-solving and math to navigation and critical thinking. My approach is patient, structured, and encouraging—I focus on breaking down complex ideas into clear, practical steps to help students build confidence and succeed in their GED goals.
