Fun Facts

I love reading fantasy novels, specifically The Wheel of Time and Brandon Sanderson novels. In addition, I love football, especially the Seattle Seahawks, and I grew up playing football in middle school and high school.

About Me

I love math, and I love teaching math. Growing up, I was constantly tutoring members of my community in a huge variety of subjects, from arithmetic to Calculus. Overall, I'm very enthusiastic about Math, and I'll bring that enthusiasm to every class. Currently, I'm a Math Major at Rutgers University, heading into my junior year. After college, I hope to pursue a PhD in a branch of mathematics (to be determined) at NYU and then become a professor.

Experience

My experience with tutoring was very natural. In my community, a lot of people needed help in their math classes, and would ask me if I could help them. I found that I really enjoyed not just learning math, but teaching it. Throughout middle school and Highschool I gained a ton of experience in tutoring this way, and I'm excited to gain even more.

Approach

My approach will differ depending on the subject and the student. Some students gain understanding through visual demonstrations, which is excellent for courses like geometry, while other students learn more from proof-based exercises, which is better in an algebra setting. One thing I like to do is go a bit into the history of the math, and explain why it was originally used.

College Algebra Tutoring

I have spent several years in college tutoring my peers in this subject, and I can guarantee that I have an extremely firm grip on all material contained within it. My teaching methods for this subject are based on thought experiments and relating the new material to old material, since algebra is a subject with a steady progression of material that builds off past material in a nice progression.,

Pre Calculus Tutoring

I am extremely proficient in Pre Calculus, and have extensively tutored for it both in high school and in college. The class is quite similar to algebra II in many ways, but goes more in-depth into concepts and adds a few new ones. Therefore, my teaching style will be based on building off algebra II, relating all concepts to concepts already covered in that class.

Calculus I Tutoring

Calculus I is a course I very much enjoy and that I am also extremely capable of tutoring. I have extensive experience tutoring my college peers in this course, and I received a near perfect score on the final when I took it. Overall, my teaching method will mostly be based on thought experiments, helping the student grasp the basic concepts of Calculus, and then proceeding to apply the algebra and geometry they already know to it.

Calculus 2 Tutoring

Calculus 2 is one of my overall favorite math classes, but it is also one of the most challenging. Overall, I've probably helped more people with Calculus 2 than any class but one, since it is so challenging. However, I can confidently say that I have an extensive proficiency in the course, having an A in my class and having one of the highest scores on the final. My teaching methods will mostly be logic-based and proof-based, since that is extremely necessary for understanding and being able to perform the operations required for Calculus 2.

Calculus 3 Tutoring

Calculus 3 is probably the most challenging course I have ever taken, and is the class I have helped the most students with. I got an A in the class with one of the highest grades on the final, and throughout my years in college have consistently helped other students grasp the complex concepts. My teaching methods for Calc 3 are very visual and I use lots of thought-experiments since the course requires lots of imagination to grasp the complex equations.

Linear Algebra Tutoring

Linear Algebra is one of my favorite math courses, and it's one of the courses that I am most proficient in. I have tutored for this class extensively in college, and I find the concepts extremely interesting, and so my excitement will definitely show in the tutoring sessions. I got an A in the course with one of the highest grades on the final, and I am more than confident in going extremely deep into every concept covered in the course

Geometry Tutoring

Geometry is an extremely fun subject, with material that is extremely important for future courses such as pre-calculus. Overall, I have had extensive experience tutoring both my peers and younger students in this subject, and consider it to be one of my strongest. I will put a heavy emphasis on proof writing, as that is crucial for geometry, but I will mostly use visual demonstrations to help explain the theorems and thought-experiments to supplement them. I think high school geometry is a course best taken alongside an understanding of what it is, and not just the rigorous mathematics behind it all.

Middle School Math Tutoring

I have tutored middle schoolers for many years, and I have a strong grasp of the concepts required, such as basic algebra skills and geometry. I find teaching younger students extremely rewarding, and make sure that they are given strong foundations in algebra and geometry to take the heavier courses required of them later on in high school and in college.

Elementary Math Tutoring

Early math of all kinds is challenging, although we don't think about it. Concepts like arithmetic, area and volume, integers, and fractions all seem quite simple until you try and teach them. In reality, these components of mathematics can be very challenging to grasp. My main strategy for teaching them is to relate the concepts to real-world scenarios. I believe that if children can understand why this math was originally used, and why it can be used today for so many things, they will gain a firm understanding of it. I have extensive experience with tutoring children in elementary school, and find them to be some of the best students. I have the most overall experience in it of any bracket of math since I've been tutoring it for the longest, and I can confidently say that any material covered in elementary school I can accurately and effectively explain to children struggling with the concepts.
